Binchotan is a traditionally Japanese charcoal that is completely different from American charcoal in just about every way possible. White binchotan is chemical free, almost smoke free, and burns for up to 4-5 hours at a consistent temperature. Not only is it ideal for grilling, but it will also last an entire service. The lack of chemical additives and the incredibly high heat adds a beautiful sear, and gives anything grilled on it an amazing flavor. You can also use as a natural water and air filter.
Hyuga binchotan is made in the city of Miyagi prefecture, and is recognized as one of the finest quality binchotan, using evergreen oak wood.
We've got one-pound white binchotan bundles available at the shop, sumi charcoal, as well as the Japanese Konro grills (in two sizes), perfect for yakitori, kebabs, steak, and just about anything. Traditionally you see konros in tiny Japanese izakayas offering yakitori and the like. Great unique holiday gift options to choose from, so come by and check it out!
